  EVANGELISTIC SUPPORT PROGRAM In this post I would like to present our journey from Paraguay to the places we intend to visit in Bolivia where we have active Support Points. As you can see on the map below, our goal is to leave the border region of Brazil with Paraguay, in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, to the border with Bolivia. This is a journey of 680 kilometers. It usually takes 12 to 15 hours to travel. It all depends on the condition of the road. In the border region, in the city of Corumbá, I will carry out the migration processes and will also be where the pamphlets for evangelization in Bolivia will be. The goal is to send them by mail from the border to the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. I will go with my wife and son, who will stay in the border region to process some documentation. We are working precisely in this direction to expand the work of the Lord Jesus. We had problems in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and were forced to move to the border region. But time goes by and we understand that everything is within the will of the Lord Jesus. EVANGELISTIC SUPPORT PROGRAM The sister in the photo (in black) above came to our Support Base last week to get bibles and brochures for work. She came with her husband and on the day they could go shopping. You know we're still in quarantine and we only have one day to go out and buy something to eat. In addition to using the single day for shopping they came from afar and on foot. There are no buses, taxis, mototaxi to get around. They told me they would come and came on foot. I handed over the bibles and the leaflets for evangelism, we talked a little about the evangelistic work and soon left the house. I went to the gate and watched the couple leave until I turned the corner and a very strong word came to my heart: How much is a Bible worth to you? I sent booklets in Spanish to an evangelist in the city of Cochabamba. He formed a group and traveled through the mountains of the Andes of Bolivia talking about Jesus to the people. They arrived at a small village and there were some brothers there. They met in very simple houses made of stone. The floor of the house was also made of stones, but everything was well organized. There they worshiped the Lord Jesus – that place was their church. The evangelist reported that few brothers had Bibles and the leader used a Bible in Spanish. The problem is that they don’t speak Spanish, but the Quechua language. In this way, we have a great responsibility to obtain not only Spanish Bibles, but Quechua Bibles. We want to give at least one bible in the native language to leaders to teach others the Word of God. I believe that every evangelist has a heart for delivering evangelistic materials and seeing people retaining the materials. In view of this concern, we seek to obtain the best material for the moment. The material we deliver at an outdoor fair may be quite different from material we use in hospitals or the office. The message that transforms is one: The Gospel. Now, the way we get this message out to the people is that we can say that there are many ways. And when we work with printed materials we must think about this detail. I had a very interesting experience at a fair in Bolivia. I was with my wife, my children and some brothers doing the distribution of the written Word of God. That day we used the materials from União Cristã, a group of brothers from Brazil who printed materials and sent them to us. Here in Bolivia we remain in quarantine and probably on the 30th of this month the government will start to release the people little by little to work. It has been a difficult day considering that most people do not have money saved in a bank for times of crisis. Most have to work each day to eat. Yesterday I saw a mother crying because for several days she was desperately struggling to get food for her six children and besides the six children there was also an older man who is unable to work and depends on her. Our target in Bolivia has been to support evangelists who are constantly taking the Word of God to the entire nation of Bolivia I speak of Bolivia, but the Lord Jesus knows that in my heart the goal is not to reach only the people of God. Peruvian evangelists from various regions are coming to the border region in order to obtain some of the evangelistic material that we deliver free of charge A few days ago the information came to me that some were coming from Lima with the aim of obtaining printed materials and carrying out the work in their regions. This information honestly impacted me. They travel several hours from the Peruvian capital to the border with Bolivia to receive some boxes of literature! Yes, my heart burns to be able to bring the Word of God to the people of Peru too. There are many ways you can use the leaflets during evangelism. I recently read that a bookstore that sells evangelistic brochures polled buyers about how they are using the brochures. Well, they selected at least 50 different methods of using printed material for evangelism. That’s really good. Something interesting to note is that the leaflets make important points clear to the recipient. I select a few: 1 – the sinfulness of man 2 – who is Jesus 3 – salvation by grace through faith, separate from works 4 – the guarantee of this free gift of salvation. Miss receiving the written Word of God Bolivia It is useful to use brochures in situations where it is difficult to really speak to a person about the Gospel. We must be aware that in most of our moments passing by people they will not have as much time to listen to you. Let’s start with the obvious. Sharing your faith is a daunting task. We live in a culture that is increasingly hostile toward the message of Jesus Christ. And many unbelievers have a very negative perception of Christians who “proselytize”. In our relativistic and pluralistic culture, evangelism is a very unpopular practice. Faced with these obstacles, many Christians prefer to think of evangelism as an optional part of the Christian life. And we are very good at coming up with excuses, aren’t we? I don’t have time to share my faith. I’m not very good at talking to people I don’t know very well. I’m afraid I would get questions I don’t know the answers to. But these excuses are just that – excuses. Biblically, there are two rock-solid truths that answer nearly every excuse that we pull out. In the Great Commission, Jesus Christ commanded us to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”  (Mark 16:15) We should actively work to share the gospel with others. Pastors and evangelists play a special role by public preaching, but every Christian shares the responsibility for evangelism. We can share the gospel through one-on-one witnessing conversations, home Bible studies, and many other ways. Today, let’s talk about how to use one helpful witnessing tool—gospel tracts.   1 –  Booklets with the Gospel message Not all gospel tracts are created equal. The best gospel tracts explain man’s sin, the penalty for sin, and Christ’s substitutionary death. Be sure to get tracts that explain the gospel clearly. 2 –  Give out tracts to people you encounter in daily life. You can give them to cashiers, waitresses, doctors, or people at the local coffee shop. You can hand out tracts at public events—fairs, parades, and festiv...

People are always asking why we use the brochures. When I am asked with such a question I always remember that God continues to use Bibles to speak to so many people. I also wonder why there is so much contempt, indifference and even persecution for those who want to use printed material to reach sinners. The impression I have is that in eangelism you can use any method, except the written method. No, use no brochure! But why? Why the opposition? Why should we believe that a job that has been proven for centuries to be extremely efficient will be ridiculous? According to Billy Graham, “Nothing surpasses a tract for sowing the seed of the Good News.” Why should a Christian use tracts? Simply because God uses them. He used a tract to save the great missionary Hudson Taylor, as well as innumerable others. I was looking on the internet for different methods of using printed materials in evangelism. Here in Bolivia the evangelists distribute the leaflets when they are with a group preaching, others just distribute the written Word of God. Other evangelists go to hospitals to visit the sick and after praying they deliver something from the written Word of God so that they can continue reading and feeding their spirit and others. But I went to look for other methods. I found a website where a store that sells evangelistic brochures ran a survey with the evangelists who bought the brochures. Well, there are 50 ways to do the distribution. I found a lot of interest and decided to share it with you. It is possible that in your region some of these forms are not permitted by law or you simply do not agree with some of these methods below. Well, everything is ok. The Evangelistic Support Program has several Support Points inside and outside Bolivia. As I have already said in other posts, we started the missionary project here in Bolivia, but little by little we are taking this project to other nations. In Bolivia we have our first Support Point in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, another Support Point in Cochabamba, central Bolivia, and our third Evangelistic Support Point in the city of La Paz. At each Support Point we have an evangelist responsible for receiving the materials and supporting other local evangelists. Supporting evangelists do the work voluntarily and are from several churches. They are volunteers with their hearts dedicated to evangelistic service. In March 2017 we received a 40-foot container with gospel literature. I want to give my thanks to each brother who supports this great mission that is WMPRESS, the volunteers in the service at the base, those who help to send and others. I know that even this material is here, there is a great army of men and women who love Jesus and obey the Great Commission and are somehow participating in this service. I arrived in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in 2007 and as soon as I set foot in this city I started to pray for a job target. I always learned that we must think of a target before going to the mission field, but our life was so fast, God spoke to us so quickly that we simply sold everything we had in Paraguay and came to Bolivia In Paraguay I worked with my brother-in-law Ebenezer with literatures. My brother-in-law had the aim of attending schools that were close to the road from the northeast of Paraguay to the south of Paraguay. It also aimed to serve the northern region, reaching Bolivia. We praise the Lord that this goal has been achieved. So, as I was already living in Bolivia, I thought about continuing the evangelistic goal of southern Bolivia (north of Paraguay) towards the city of La Paz. Dr Francisco Gamelim is one of the distributors of materials printed by the World Missionary Press in Brazil. The main objective of Dr Francisco Gamelim is to support evangelists who are in the northeast of Brazil, a region in great need of the presence of the Word of God. For those who do not know, Dr Francisco Gamelim is my uncle and for me it is always a privilege to visit his home and share the great blessings of the Work of the Lord Jesus here in Bolivia where I work, in Brazil and in the world. In 2014 I was at my uncle Gamelim’s house and filmed a little of the work he does. Right now we are over 13 years old doing missions in Bolivia. God has given us the Word that the Work that He himself would place in our hands, and has already placed, would grow at the right time. Right now we are seeing this growth. A few years ago our work was restricted to the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Sometimes I was able to make a trip to a village near Santa Cruz de la Sierra, but time passed and God was giving us the possibility to serve other regions of Bolivia. We started to send materials to Cochabamba and to La Paz, which are two big cities in Bolivia. We currently have three Support Points in Bolivia. We have here in Santa Cruz, another Support Point in Cochabamba and the third Support Point in the city of La Paz. But God told us to take the project to other nations. This is our latest missionary video in video. It was posted on our channel in late 2018, but it summarizes very well what we continue to do here on the mission field. We remain on target to make the Word of God present to the people. Our main objective is regions where there are not many preachers and where the people have more difficulty in knowing the message of salvation. To do the work we are fully aware that we cannot do evangelistic work alone. So God led us to involve local evangelists in this work. We support the literatures with the work they are doing and consequently they are reaching regions of great need themselves. Below I leave the informative video.
